Armed bandits have abducted Mallam Sadis Isa, the Chairman of the Council of Scholars in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, along with several other travellers, in a violent ambush along the Gusau–Gummi highway.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attack occurred on Tuesday evening when the assailants blocked the busy route, halted vehicles, and seized an undisclosed number of passengers.

A security analyst identified as Bakatsine disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, confirming that the gunmen intercepted multiple vehicles and whisked away the victims, including the prominent Islamic scholar.

“Yesterday evening, bandits blocked the Gusau–Gummi road in Zamfara State, stopping vehicles and abducting several passengers including Malam Sadis Isa, Chairman of the Council of Scholars, Gummi LGA,” Bakatsine wrote.

As of press time, neither the Zamfara State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the abduction.

The incident adds to the growing wave of insecurity and kidnapping that has plagued Zamfara and other parts of northwestern Nigeria in recent months
