The 7th Assembly of Kogi State has been dissolved by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
In Lokoja on Monday, at the House’s farewell meeting, Governor Bello declared the Assembly to be dissolved.
The governor emphasized that the All Progressive Congress continues to be a successful team in Kogi State while thanking members who served in the sixth and seventh assemblies for their contributions.
Bello emphasized the necessity for them to foster a sense of tolerance regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political allegiances while pointing out that the party’s future is promising.
In addition to promising that his administration will keep going after criminal groups in Kogi State, Bello praised media for providing factual reporting that helped to promote peace and tranquility in the state.
The outgoing speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Mathew Kolawole, noted that the body lost two members while he was in office in his farewell address.
John Abba of the Ibaji Constituency and Jimoh Omiata of the Yagba East State Constituency were the lawmakers he named as having passed away.
Additionally, he said that two of the members’ wives had fallen away, including the late Ibaji lawmaker and his wife, who died a few months before.
He was grateful for the parliamentarians’ assistance in making the seventh assembly a success.
According to Kolawole, the seventh assembly provided effective administration throughout the last seven years and enacted 1451 resolutions.
He said that the Assembly had approved 688 ordinary motions.
According to the former speaker, the Assembly passed 52 legislation, of which 37 were approved by the Kogi State Government and of which 32 are executive bills and 20 are private member bills.
Two legislation are currently pending assent, while one bill has been withheld, Kolawole continued.
Prior to the conclusion of the seventh legislative assembly, a total of 12 bills are in various stages of discussion, he continued.
