The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, will host a joint wedding ceremony for nine of his children in a single, large-scale event scheduled for February 6, 2026, in Abuja.
The ceremony is set to take place at the Central Mosque, Abuja, and is expected to draw prominent political figures, religious leaders, and guests from across the country. Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, is hosting the multiple weddings on the same day, a development that has sparked widespread public interest.
Details of the event became public following the circulation of a general invitation card announcing the date and venue of the ceremony. Subsequent wedding cards later revealed the identities of several couples set to formalise their unions.
Among those listed is former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, who will marry Nana Bello Matawalle. Ibrahim Sahabi Liman is also slated to wed Farida Bello Matawalle, while Safiya Bello Matawalle will be joined in marriage to Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani.
Another daughter of the minister, Aisha Bello Matawalle, is expected to marry Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki at the same ceremony, alongside other couples whose details were included in the invitations.
The joint wedding ceremony is anticipated to be one of the most notable social events in Abuja early next year, given the scale of the occasion and Matawalle’s standing in national politics.
