The Boma Prize for Africa Foundation, a United States based non-profit organization registered in Maryland and the District of Columbia, has announced the appointment of David Nwokorie as its new Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer.

The Foundation, which is widely known for identifying and celebrating transformational African leaders who are advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), said the appointment marks a new chapter in its mission to expand its impact across the continent through leadership, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

Nwokorie, a development advocate and policy innovator, is bringing a wealth of experience in governance, advocacy, and social enterprise to the position. He previously served as Adviser to a Nigerian Senator, where he contributed to national policy initiatives on youth inclusion, innovation, and education reform.

His work has earned him several recognitions, including the Africa Future Leadership Award in the Non-Profit and Development Leadership category, for his contributions to civic participation and institutional development across Africa.

Beyond his policy work, Nwokorie also serves as the Ambassador of the Blueland Radio Drama Series, a civic engagement programme aired on 47 radio stations across Nigeria and West Africa. Through the initiative, he promotes storytelling as a tool for inclusion, peacebuilding, and public awareness.

He is also a UNHCR Young Champion, supporting humanitarian programmes that focus on displacement, refugee inclusion, and social reintegration.

As Chief Executive Officer of Saint Louis Media, Nwokorie leads a creative communications and impact storytelling firm that promotes development-driven narratives across Africa. He is also the author of five books, including “Africa’s Uprising: Perspectives from the GENDA Foundation”, which explores leadership, governance, and Africa’s development trajectory.

Speaking on his appointment, Nwokorie expressed gratitude and optimism about the new role.

“The Boma Prize for Africa Foundation represents a shared belief that African excellence deserves to be celebrated, supported, and sustained. I am honored to lead this mission, one rooted in recognition, empowerment, and a deep commitment to Africa’s transformation,” he said.

The Founder of the Boma Prize for Africa Foundation, Blessing Douglas, described Nwokorie as a forward-thinking leader whose intellect, creativity, and integrity align with the vision of the organization.

“David brings both strategic insight and authentic passion. His leadership will further position the Boma Prize for Africa as a global platform spotlighting the individuals and institutions shaping Africa’s future,” Douglas noted.

Since its inception, the Boma Prize for Africa Foundation has grown into one of the continent’s foremost platforms celebrating excellence in leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and governance. Through its flagship Boma Prize for Africa Awards and leadership development programmes, the Foundation connects high-impact individuals and organizations with global opportunities to drive sustainable development and inclusive prosperity across Africa.

With an expanding network across the continent and the diaspora, and partnerships with governments, multilateral institutions, and the private sector, the Foundation continues to amplify African voices and homegrown solutions that are shaping the continent’s global narrative.
