On Tuesday, football sensation Eden Hazard of Belgium announced his retirement from the game in a post on the social media platform Instagram.
Prior to the expiration of his deal with the Spanish Giants, Hazard played his final La Liga game for Real Madrid last season. Since coming from Chelsea, he had only made 76 appearances for Madrid in four injury-plagued seasons.
Only seven goals and 12 assists were recorded throughout the 32-year-old’s stint with the Los Blancos.
“You must pay attention to your inner voice and stop when it is necessary. I’ve chosen to finish my career as a professional football player after 16 years and more than 700 games, the former Belgian captain posted on Instagram.
“I want to thank the RBFA for my Belgian Selection as well as the clubs I’ve played for, including LOSC, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.”
“A special thank you to my family, friends, advisors, and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad,” he continued.
