The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has finally appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee following weeks of pressure and threats of arrest by the committee chairman, Senator Aliyu Wadada.
The company is being probed over financial discrepancies totalling N210 trillion in its audited accounts from 2017 to 2023, as flagged by the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation. NNPCL’s delegation is led by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari.
As at the time of filing this report, the meeting is ongoing at the National Assembly, with senators questioning the team over the alleged inconsistencies.
