…Residents raise alarm over recurring attacks in Tse-Kalema
…Security agencies urged to act as fear spreads in Ukum LGA

A young man, Lucky Tsetim, was reportedly shot dead by suspected armed men at Tse-Kalema in Mbazun, Atogbenda, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

Sources within the community said the victim was working on his farm on Tuesday when the assailants struck. His death has triggered fresh panic among residents, who believe the killing is part of a series of increasingly frequent attacks allegedly linked to Fulani herders.

“We are living in fear. These attacks in Tse-Kalema are no longer isolated; they’re becoming a pattern,” a resident, who asked not to be named, told reporters.

Community members are calling on security agencies to intervene swiftly and restore order to the area before the situation escalates further.

As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement. Several attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered.

Ukum LGA and other parts of Benue’s conflict-prone zones have witnessed repeated bouts of violence over the years, often tied to farmer-herder clashes. This latest killing, residents fear, may spark reprisals or further unrest if unchecked.
