Babatunji wusu –
On Tuesday, there was a heated exchange of words between senators in the National Assembly’s upper chamber on the N29 trillion in Ways and Means funds that were allocated by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume said at Tuesday’s plenary that the Senate had broken the law by permitting the former President to take money from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and use it for expenses that the legislature needed to approve.
His submission led to a verbal altercation between the Borno Senator and other lawmakers, who differed, and it caused heated debates on the upper parliamentary chamber floor.
This development coincides with plans revealed by Finance Minister Wale Edun, who represents President Bola Tinubu’s administration, to investigate the N23 trillion Ways and Means debt that hangs over them.
