Presidential special adviser, Daniel Bwala, has declared that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not emerge as the flagbearer of any political party — including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) — ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a Wednesday interview on Channels Television, Bwala argued that Obi’s political influence had drastically waned since the 2023 polls, claiming the former Anambra governor had lost half of his previous support base.
“He is not going to get a ticket in any of the parties. The problem now is that he might not get the vice presidential ticket from the way things are going,” Bwala asserted.
He further alleged that Obi’s 2023 votes were not anchored on solid political structures, but on “rhetoric and division,” which he said Nigerians had now seen through.
Bwala, a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu, boasted that the president would secure two million votes in the South-East in 2027, a region where Obi dominated during the last election.
The comments come weeks after Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and other opposition heavyweights endorsed the ADC in July 2025 as the coalition platform to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid.
