Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has forcefully rejected circulating reports that he had died, posting a video on Instagram Friday in which he told fans and family he is “very much alive.”

In the clip, Agu introduced himself by title and swore off the rumours, urging followers to report the blogger who started the false claim. “Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace,” he said.

Agu, who identified himself as “Chief Chiwetalu Agu, okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State,” rejected suggestions he was near death and issued a blunt rebuke to his detractors. “I am not going to die anytime soon. Instead I will be the one to bury my enemies,” he warned, adding the proverb: “Na who dig pit go fall inside.”

The actor also stressed personal plans that contradict the death claims. “I am yet to carry my grandchildren and I must carry them in good health when my children are ready,” he said.

Addressing the source of the false report, Agu said he would have taken legal action if a major blogger had spread the story. “If it were any of the big bloggers who carried the false information, I would have sued them for defamation, economic and business damage,” he said, before noting the originator is a lesser-known account “still struggling with likes.”

Agu’s Instagram message appears aimed at halting the spread of the hoax and warning that he will hold those responsible to account.
