Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has lit the fire under yet another Guinness World Record attempt—this time to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. Her ambitious target: 250 bags of rice.
Baci, who shot to global fame in 2023 after smashing the record for the longest cooking marathon, launched the challenge at Eko Hotels, Lagos, drawing a lively crowd of fans and supporters.
Before the first grain hit the pot, Baci and her mother were seen praying together, asking for strength and protection—an emotional moment that sparked loud cheers from spectators. Many in the crowd hailed her mother as a strong pillar of her success.
Adding a personal touch, the chef shared a playful update on social media: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
Originally scheduled for Muri Okunola Park, the event was shifted to Eko Hotel after overwhelming interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.
If successful, Baci’s effort will etch Nigeria’s beloved jollof deeper into culinary history—this time on a truly massive scale.
