  • Governor Bassey Otu implements N70,000 national minimum wage in line with labour agreement.
  • Head of Service says wage has been fully applied across all levels in the state.
  • Civil Service/Public Service Day activities include city walk, lectures, and awards.

Cross River State Head of Service, Dr. Innocent Eteng, has confirmed that Governor Bassey Otu has fully implemented the national minimum wage of N70,000, in accordance with an agreement reached between his administration and organised labour.

Speaking in Calabar during an interview after unveiling activities for the ongoing Civil/Public Service Day celebration, Eteng said the governor’s approval was “gracious” and carried out exactly as documented in the pact.

“His Excellency has graciously approved the N70,000 minimum wage, which we have implemented as written in the agreement. Those saying otherwise are ignorant and naive,” the HoS stated, insisting the policy had been applied across the state and at all levels.

Eteng urged citizens to commend the governor for the move, describing the information as “bankable” and authoritative.

Outlining the Civil Service/Public Service Day events, he listed a city walk by civil servants, a public lecture, an awards ceremony at the UJ Esuene Stadium, a keynote address by the Secretary to the State Government, and a lecture by Rev. Fr. Bob Etta.
