Babatunji Wusu – The public prosecutor stated on Thursday that a 33-year-old French man has admitted to killing his wife and their four children, claiming he “heard voices” urging him to “cause harm.”
A man with a history of mental illness was detained by French police on Tuesday, suspected of killing his wife, who was born in Haiti, and their children, who were nine months, four, seven, and ten years old.
On Monday, Christmas Day, their remains had been discovered at their Meaux, east of Paris, home.
According to the prosecutors, the individual is a plumber who has been undergoing therapy for depression and psychotic behavior since 2017.
According to Meaux public prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier, who cited the postmortem results on Wednesday, the children’s mother, 35, and her daughters, 10, and 7, each suffered “about 10 stab wounds,” which were “administered with great violence.”
He continued, saying that the boys, ages four and nine months, “died of asphyxia following drowning.”
According to the prosecutor, the suspect claimed he had “not been able to identify a trigger for his act.” The prosecution continued, saying that since killing his family, he has “felt nothing” and “felt empty.”
Bladier stated that although the suspect had not taken his prescription on December 24, he “indicated that he had been taking his daily medication” since 2019.
The precise date of the murder was kept a secret by the prosecution.
The remains were found by the police on Monday night at around 9:00 p.m.
Police were notified by neighbors that they had heard cries coming from downstairs on the night of December 24–25.
In 2019, the man attempted suicide after slashing his spouse in the shoulder blade when she was expecting their third kid. He was subsequently placed under arrest. She had declined to file a complaint.
