Dangote Refinery has achieved a feat unmatched by international oil giants like Shell, ExxonMobil, and Chevron by constructing a $20 billion refinery in Nigeria. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries, highlighted this during a visit by the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment to the refinery complex in Lekki, Lagos, on Wednesday.

“A Nigerian company took up the challenge to build the world’s largest single-train refinery, a feat no global oil giant has attempted anywhere,” Edwin stated, emphasizing Dangote Refinery’s pioneering role in the energy sector.

Chairman of the Senate Committee, Sadiq Umar, assured the refinery of legislative support, recognizing the project as a vital national asset. “This investment transcends Dangote; it is for Nigeria and the world. We will do everything within our power to ensure its success,” he affirmed.

The refinery, capable of processing 650,000 barrels per day, recently resumed crude imports from the U.S. to bolster production, following challenges in crude supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. This move has contributed to a marginal drop in fuel prices, ranging from N1,060 to N1,115 per litre at filling stations.
