According to Delta Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, those who are unable to provide proof of their income should face legal action and an investigation.
The country now has incidences of kidnapping, ritual killings, and online fraud, according to a post made by the police spokesperson on his X account on Sunday.
Edafe lamented the depressing tendency of individuals to believe it was improper to raise concerns about what he referred to as Nigeria’s “suspicious wealth.”
According to him, the police have instructed their officers to act honorably and refrain from using legitimate sources of revenue as a pretext to blackmail Nigerians.
“It is a very sad trend that people feel it is improper to question the suspicious wealth of individuals who are unable to prove they have any legitimate source of income,” he said. There are reports of kidnappings, ritual killings, and even online fraud. We advise our soldiers to act honorably and refrain from using it as a pretext for extortion.
“Anyone who is detained and unable to provide proof of their income, however, needs to be thoroughly probed and brought before the authorities once the cockroach in his closet has been exposed. I don’t mind if you like or dislike me; that’s just a plain fact.
