Douye-Diri-Seriake-Dickson

Seriake Dickson, former governor and senator from Bayelsa West, is optimistic that incumbent Governor Douye Diri will easily win the November 11 governorship election.

On the basis of the Peoples Democratic Party platform, he declared that Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, had clear sailing to victory.

Dickson, who had not taken part in the campaigns for the governor’s second term since they began three weeks ago, gave a speech on Wednesday while hosting Diri and his campaign team at his Toru-Orua country residence in the Sagbama Local Government Area.

The former governor offered his support behind his successor and expressed confidence that the governor’s second term will be successful, according to a statement released on Thursday by Diri’s Chief Press, Mr. Daniel Alabrah.

“I commend the Diri gubernatorial campaign’s director-general and his group for effectively mobilizing our party’s grassroots.

“It appears that all is well. “I can see that your current hunt will be very successful from the perspective of an experienced hunter,” Dickson was quoted as saying in the statement.

Dickson claimed that Diri’s visit demonstrated that the governor was still interested in the place where his political career began.

“All hell broke loose when I endorsed Senator Diri in 2019, but I’m happy to report that the Diri I imposed on them has turned into a good product for Bayelsa today,” he continued.

“A man who begins hunting in a dense forest starts somewhere, and this visit indicates that he had not forgotten the road from where he entered that dense forest,” Dickson said of the governor’s and his entourage’s visit.

During his speech, Diri denied any rumors of a falling out between him and Dickson and thanked the latter for his support over the years.

“I want to be clear that there is no separation between Senator Dickson and me, for the benefit of anyone who may be unsure about our relationship. I have no question in my mind that he is with me.

“We are carrying on with our family expansion. We have brought back all of our family members that departed, and they will all be moving with us. This has so turned into a movement. It is no longer only a political competition. We always have this natural support wherever we go, added Diri.

In addition, the governor expressed gratitude to the residents of the Bayelsa West Senatorial District and the King (Pere) of the Tarakiri clan, saying he was confident of victory in the region on November 11.

A minute of silence was held during the occasion in memory of Chief Thompson Okorotie, the late chairman of the Ekeremor PDP Caucus.
