Tunji Wusu –
The Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) of Kano State has invited the state’s immediate past governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to testify regarding his alleged kickback collection in Dollar while he was governor of the state. The APC chapter in Kano State has advised Dr. Ganduje not to accept the invitation.
The statement was jointly signed by the state chairman and secretary of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas and Alhaji Zakari Sarina, who made the statement.
The party claimed to have realized that the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party’s (NNPP) replay of the politically driven Dollar tapes controversy, which is currently in court, was a part of a cunning scheme to harm the former governor’s reputation.
It was mentioned that a similar scenario was used to ruin the former governor’s chances of winning the party’s reelection ticket for the 2019 gubernatorial race.
They went on to say that Ganduje was one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s best allies in the North, and that this time, the critics were waging a campaign of slander to drive a breach between them.
While Ganduje’s services to the Tinubu political project have been extensively praised since the primary election’s administration, the Kano APC declared that his relationship with the President is still friendly.
