Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has implemented a minor cabinet reshuffle involving four commissioners, accompanied by a firm directive for enhanced performance aligned with his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs manifesto.

During a Tuesday press briefing, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebe, revealed the changes following the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.

Governor Nwifuru granted a three-month grace period to the Commissioner for Environment, Hon Victor Chukwu, and the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Amari Omaka, cautioning that failure to demonstrate improvement would result in their dismissal.

In a bid to accelerate industrialization, the council approved the installation of Independent Captive Power Generation Plants to deliver 24-hour metered electricity to selected public and private industries, beginning with a three-megawatt plant at ICT University, Oferekpe, Agbaja.

Additionally, a 15-member Ebonyi State Economic Advisory Committee was constituted, chaired by Prof. Barth Nnaji, with Dr. Ben Odoh as Secretary.

The cabinet reshuffle saw Engr. Jude Chikadibia Okpor move from Information and State Orientation to Rural Development, while Ikeuwa Omebe transitioned to Information and State Orientation. Professor Paul Awo Nwobasi switched from Education (Primary and Secondary) to Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, with Donatus Ilang assuming the Education portfolio.

Governor Nwifuru urged all appointees to reflect on their performance and renew their commitment to advancing the administration’s goals for the benefit of Ebonyi’s citizens.
