Dr Yahaya Baba Usman has been named Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah in Kogi State.
This was said in a statement made on Tuesday by S. S. Omale, the institution’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol.
Since 2019, Usman has served as the director of academic planning at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa.
He received his BSC in Statistics from the Federal University of Technology Minna in Niger State and his M.Sc and PhD from the University of Ibadan in Oyo State.
He is a member of the Nigerian Statistics Association and the Professional Statistics of Nigeria, as well as a fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development.
Between 1997 and 1998, he worked as an acting lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Idah before shifting to Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in 1998, where he progressed through the ranks to become Chief Lecturer on January 1, 2017.
He is an adept academic scholar who has made significant contributions to knowledge transmission in both local and foreign journals, as well as attending prestigious local and international conferences and workshops.
He has also received numerous distinguished accolades and honors in his fields of endeavor at various fora. The appointment is for a single term of five years, beginning on the day he begins work.
He succeeded Dr Danjuma David Baba, who had recently completed his single five-year tenure.
