The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools(ASUSS) has observed that the Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji has proven to be a compassionate and worthy leader in the first six months of his administration.
In a statement released by the state’s chairman and secretary on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the teachers underlined that the governor had largely complied with his commitments to the workforce and had taken care of the state’s vital infrastructures.
“Of great note are the prompt payment of salaries and deductions, payment of salary arrears, pension, and gratuity, reconstruction of the damaged portion of roads in Ado, Ikere, and other towns in Ekiti, and many other development projects within the shortest period of your tenure in office,” the statement read.
Governor Oyebanji, according to ASUSS, had shown that he was a member of the Ekiti people by “recognizing their hopes, aspirations, and desire for good administration, therefore his remarkable performance which touched directly on the needs of the people.”
But, the union urged the governor to “look passionately at other worker demands that are claimed to be essential to good service delivery of the various categories of personnel.
“Financial implementation of already completed promotions, as well as the adoption of the minimum pay for officers on grade level 14 and higher.”
ASUSS also asked with the administration to help the union, as it has done for other unions in the state, with the construction of the secretariat building project and a utility bus as soon as the state funds improve.
