For aerial oversight of the polls on Saturday, the Federal Government has sent a helicopter to Ebonyi.

Gov. Dave Umahi explained to reporters in Abakaliki on Friday that the deployment of the chopper was meant to supplement the state’s existing security measures.

The governor warned citizens not to worry and explained that the helicopter would be flying at low heights.

Insurgents or bandits will be discouraged from interfering with the poll in any area of Ebonyi, he assured.

“Our security chiefs in Abuja surprised us with a package including everything we need to hold credible elections in Ebonyi.

Our Ebonyi International Airport has already received the plane. Its goal is to protect our lives and increase voter confidence in order to stop bandit threats from materializing. I want the people of Ebonyi to be aware that the plane would be flying at a low height and that they shouldn’t be scared.

It exists to safeguard us, assess potential risks and flashpoints, and take decisive action when necessary.

If they see the craft flying through their towns and villages, Ebonyi people should not be afraid; this is encouraging to me and to our people.

When the state has been adequately guarded, our people should be free from bandit dangers, he remarked.
The election security council meeting earlier in the day, according to Umahi, gave security chiefs a chance to assess security issues.
“I am pleased with the quality of the preparations the security authorities have undertaken. ”
“I have also directed the security agencies to demobilise anyone who poses a security threat to the election and to arrest anyone who is not supposed to carry a gun, but found with a gun,” said the president. “They have reported no challenges; flashpoints from where bandits were operating have been taken over and they are fully in control of those areas.

The governor urged the populace, saying, “I urge our people to go out tomorrow and vote for the candidates of their choosing without any fear of attack or violence.”
Umahi instructed security organizations to take immediate action to neutralize any security risks to Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
