The first son of Nollywood star Emeka Ike, Michael Ike, has spoken up for his mother Suzanne Emma after his father disparaged her.
In an interview with Channels TV, the actor revealed that his extended absence from the screen was due to a protracted depressive episode, marital difficulties, and disagreements with fellow Nollywood professionals.
Emeka Ike talked candidly about his challenges, saying that his marital problems were the root of his depression and that the shame he felt from his perceived inadequacies caused him to hide.
The actor claims that he didn’t realize his wife was reportedly planning his demise when he packed up his bags and fled for the US.
The actor claimed that Emma closed his secondary school and took away all of his belongings from him when he returned home, leaving the house vacant.
But Emma insisted in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that Ike had abused her during their 17-year marriage.
She described a specific event that happened in the hospital when their child was very sick. She emphasized that Emeka Ike physically attacked and reprimanded her while she was attempting to work out a deal with the hospital to treat their baby.
Speaking with Chude, Michael Ike claimed that his father’s behavior was so severe that it made him detest him.
“I really hate my father,” he declared the moment he met his mother.
Suzanne concurred and said that in order to dispel that idea, she needed to start working on her son.
“I had to start working on him,” she murmured.
