Babatunji Wusu –
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State met in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the capital of the country.
Following his meeting with the President, Governor Mbah told State House reporters on Tuesday that the state is again at peace again following certain actions.
He proclaimed that in the state and the South-East, the sit-at-home order issued by the banned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is no longer in effect.
The governor declared that Monday marked the start of the workweek, that businesses and economic activity had returned to the state, and that schools were now open.
We no longer have a sit-at-home policy in Enugu State, and I venture to add that the South-East as well. On Mondays, employees report to work, and schools are open.
“The economy and business are back in action. Thus, the task at hand is to expunge that painful recollection from our past.
The governor also praised President Bola Tinubu’s government for implementing financial reforms that have made it easier for capital to enter and exit the nation and claimed that these reforms are benefiting the state.
Mbah maintained that even while some of the federal government’s economic initiatives, like the elimination of fuel subsidies, are difficult for Nigerians now, they are ultimately beneficial to the country.
He stated: “It is really a compliment to the president because many of the national measures he is doing, such as the unification of the foreign currency rate, are equally beneficial to us at the state level. That basically indicates that a lot of foreign direct investment will be flowing in, and we will gain from that as well.
