Under the direction of the Lord Bishop of the Diocese, the Right Reverend Dr Solomon Olusola Akanbi, the third session of the ninth synod of the Offa Diocese, Anglican Communion, was held at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Ipee Road, Offa, Kwara State.

Bishop Akanbi spoke during the three-day event, which had the theme “Take thy Cross daily and follow me” and was based on Luke 9:23, and he urged Christians to have entire faith in God even in trying situations.

He emphasized that Jesus Christ, as our perfect example, underwent sorrow and pain for our benefit, saying, “This means that we should fully believe in God even in extremely difficult and painful situations.”

Additionally, he exhorted Christians to practice self-denial in order to advance God’s Kingdom.

The synod discussed a number of concerns pertaining to the condition of the country, such as the depreciation of the Nigerian Naira, unemployment, property and life insecurity, subpar leadership, ritual killings, the economy, power, education, and healthcare.

The synod declared, “We call on the APC-led government to transform the country into a new nation so that the ‘Japa’ syndrome will soon become ‘Japada’.”

The occasion also exhorted Nigerians, especially Christians, to be committed to following the Creator and the source of salvation and to avoid distractions by staying focused and committed.

The wife of the Bishop, Mrs. Christianah Kehinde Akanbi, who is the President of the Women and Girls’ Organization, as well as delegates from the House of Bishops, House of Clergy, and House of Laity, participated in the three-day program, which was preceded by a three-day revival program.
