Explosion Reported Along Mararaba-Nyanya Bypass, One Injured,Police Launch Investigation

An explosion occurred along the Mararaba-Nyanya bypass in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday afternoon, injuring one person and prompting a swift response from the FCT Police Command.

The incident, which happened at approximately 2:50 PM, led to the immediate deployment of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit to the scene. According to police, the area was quickly cordoned off to ensure the safety of commuters and nearby residents while initial assessments and forensic analysis began.

“One male victim was rescued at the scene and promptly taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention,” said SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command.

While the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, police officials say a comprehensive investigation, including forensic analysis, is underway to establish the nature and origin of the blast.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, stating there is no immediate threat. “There is currently no cause for alarm,” SP Adeh stated, assuring that law enforcement is actively working to ensure public safety.

Residents have been advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the nearest police station. The FCT Police Command also provided emergency contact numbers for prompt communication: 08032003913, 08028940883, and 07057337653.

Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted following the explosion but is gradually returning to normal as police continue their investigation. More details are expected to emerge as authorities proceed with their forensic assessment.
