Como manager Cesc Fabregas has heaped praise on Barcelona stars Pedri and Lamine Yamal, calling them “amazing” talents ahead of Sunday night’s Joan Gamper Trophy showdown.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder, who enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Camp Nou, said football needs players with their skill and flair.

“Football needs players like Pedri. He is a player I really admire,” Fabregas told reporters, as quoted by Barca Universal. “Lamine Yamal is an amazing player. Football has become somewhat mechanical, so it is important to have players with such talent and magic.”

Fabregas, a Barcelona product himself, returned to the club in 2011 and won multiple titles in three years, including La Liga, Copa del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup.

Sunday’s Joan Gamper Trophy match will serve as Barcelona’s final pre-season outing before the new campaign kicks off.
