The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, has presented Group Life Assurance cheques totaling ₦74,424,762.05 to the next of kin of 143 police officers who lost their lives in the course of service to the nation.

The presentation took place on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja.

According to the FCT Police Command, the gesture is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued commitment to the welfare of police personnel and families of officers who died while serving the country.

The initiative is being carried out under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+) NPM.

Addressing the beneficiaries, CP Sanusi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased personnel in the service of Nigeria.

The Commissioner assured the beneficiaries of the continued support of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would not be forgotten.

The Group Life Assurance payment is intended to provide financial support to the families and next of kin of the deceased officers as they cope with the loss of their loved ones.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to personnel welfare and to supporting the families of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
