The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision on Monday in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the milestone and urged citizens to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience that has guided the nation since independence in 1960.

He also encouraged Nigerians to sustain confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a roadmap for national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.

The minister expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying the country would continue to move forward in peace, progress, and development with the collective support of its people.

On behalf of the Federal Government, Tunji-Ojo wished Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
