The Federal Government has urged GIG Mobility Group (GIGM) to maintain reliable services as it expands beyond interstate bus transportation into digital travel bookings and premium vehicle hire.

The government said digital mobility platforms must make travel easier while protecting customers and ensuring dependable services.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Olufunso Adebiyi, represented by Deputy Director of Road and Mass Transit, Usman Abubakar, gave the advice on Wednesday in Abuja. He spoke at the launch of PASS by GIGM and hireX by GIGM.

Adebiyi described the new platforms as useful innovations that could improve Nigeria’s transport and travel sector. He also expressed the ministry’s willingness to work with the company and wished it success.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Joseph Osanipin, said the real challenge would begin after the launch. He warned that GIGM must prepare for growing customer demand and deliver services that meet expectations.

“After we have launched today, the real work is going to start. Many customers will come in and demand this service. We have to be up to it,” he said.

Osanipin stressed that customer trust, reliability and responsive support would determine the success of digital mobility services. He added that customers needed confidence when sharing personal details and making payments online.

GIGM, which started in 1998 as God Is Good Motors, has grown from an interstate transport operator into a technology-driven mobility company. It rebranded in 2019 and now operates in Nigeria and Ghana, with more than 40 terminals across both countries.

The company’s new platforms aim to connect different travel services. PASS by GIGM offers flight bookings, hotel reservations, airport transfers, tours and bus tickets through one digital channel.

On the other hand, hireX by GIGM allows customers to book chauffeur-driven vehicles by the hour, day or for one-way journeys. The service targets airport transfers, business trips and special events.

GIGM Chief Executive Officer, Enahoro Okhae, said changing customer needs inspired the expansion.

“Strong companies evolve. Strong companies listen. Strong companies learn. They adapt. They invest,” he said.

He added that customers increasingly wanted connected travel services rather than separate arrangements.

“The future belongs to connected solutions, not isolated services,” he said.

GIGM’s Head of Product, Charles Oloyede, also explained that technology would help the company manage its growing operations and provide a smoother travel experience.

The digital mobility expansion marks another step in GIGM’s efforts to connect transportation, tourism and travel services.
