Professor Cyril Onwumechili, a former vice-chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, passed away at the age of 91.
At the age of 47, Mr. Onwumechili served as vice-chancellor of OAU from 1979 to 1982.
Abiodun Olarewaju, the university’s public relations officer, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.
The professor’s family, friends, and loved ones received condolence messages from the university.
Mr. Olarewaju claimed that the OAU administration mourned his passing greatly.
