Babatunji Wusu –
Juliet Obodo, a victim of fraud, has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for recovering and returning the money that online scammers stole from her bank account.
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, she offered the commendation after accepting a bank draft for N970,000 (nine hundred and seventy thousand naira), which was given to her by ACE1 Kanu Idagu, the Assistant Commander of the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Commander.
Idagu gave her the money that was recovered after Commission agents looked into a bank scam that led to Obodo’s savings being completely pilfered by scammers.
..Obodo bemoaned, “I was just receiving a debit alert, debit alert on my phone,” in a plea to the EFCC in 2023. I was debited N970,000 by my bank by the time I hurried to protest. I went to the EFCC since the bank was unable to assist me. Furthermore, since I didn’t know anyone, I wasn’t even certain when I was arriving. She claimed, “I was crying because all of my money was gone, along with the money I borrowed to run my sand-supply business.”
When her recovered money was given back to her on Wednesday, though, she was ecstatic. “EFCC, thank you so much. You have made me happy and taken away my tears.” EFCC is a good fit for my body. God bless each and every one of you. God will keep giving you full authority. God will give you the ability to identify the wicked and evil individuals who are doing these crimes. She prayed, “God bless and reward EFCC.”
Idagu assured her that the Commission would keep working to purge the community of con artists while delivering a draft of N970,000. “We will make every effort to ensure that fraudsters are found, charged, and, if applicable, their victims are returned. We are committed to following through on this commitment,” he stated.
