Babatunji Wusu –
According to reports, Rivers State Governor Siminlayi Fubara named Edison Ehie, the recently ousted Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as his new Chief of Staff.
Ehie takes over for Chidi Amadi, a close supporter of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the former governor of Rivers.
Recall that in a letter, Ehie, the State House of Assembly member for Ahoada-East Constituency 2, resigned from his position as Speaker and gave up his seat in the House.
A letter signed by Edison on December 29, 2023, included his resignation.
Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, was the recipient of the correspondence.
According to sources who spoke with Leadership Newspaper, Ehie left his job in order to supposedly clear a space in the House for some of the resolutions that were signed at a peace conference called by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The recognition of Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers Assembly was one of the resolutions passed during the meeting.
