Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stormed back to office after the lifting of emergency rule, declaring himself deeply humbled by the overwhelming solidarity of Rivers people.

Addressing journalists at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday, September 19, 2025, Fubara—flanked by his wife, Lady Valerie—said the massive turnout at the airport underscored an unshakable bond between his administration and the people.

“I know everyone wanted to hear from me the moment I landed,” Fubara remarked. “I was truly humbled by the reception at the airport. The love, confidence, and solidarity I witnessed reaffirm the bond between this government and the people we serve.”

He pledged to strengthen that bond by pursuing policies and projects that uplift Rivers State, while appreciating stakeholders and authorities who helped restore normalcy.

“I assure you that, by God’s grace, we will continue to do the things that made you love us. We love you in return,” he said.

At the Port Harcourt International Airport, Fubara and his wife were warmly received by his deputy, Prof. (Mrs.) Ngozi Odu, Commissioners, political leaders, Assembly members, Council chairmen—past and present—as well as jubilant supporters who thronged the tarmac in celebration.
