Babatunji Wusu –

Tuesday morning, thugs stormed the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, in Enugu State, capturing a number of people, among them a deputy director who is female.

Information surfaced that one of the security personnel was kidnapped by the gunman as well.

The Daily Post claims that an SUV purportedly owned by the kidnapped woman, a nurse, was found abandoned and had glass on the front passenger side that had been shot through.

According to a source cited by the site, the incident happened in the same place where a doctor was kidnapped a few weeks prior.

A frightened staff member bemoaned, “This is so sad; we are not safe at all in this hospital; everything is porous.”

The hospital administration and the Enugu State Police Command had not yet verified the attack at the time of this report.

In the meantime, 16 people from Kaduna State’s Gonin Gora district were kidnapped by bandits, who are requesting 40 trillion naira as ransom.

In addition to their enormous demand for money, the bandits demanded 11 Hilux vehicles and 150 motorcycles in payment for the 16 people they are imprisoning.

Community leader John Yusuf verified this incident to newsmen, stating that the bandits contacted the victims’ relatives and requested the items.

“The bandits have contacted us. They are demanding for N40 trillion, 11 Hilux vans and 150 motorcycles for the release of 16 people they are holding captive.
“Where are we going to get this kind of money! Even if we sell the entire community, we cannot raise N40 trillion. Even Nigeria as a country has never made a budget of N40 trillion,” he said.

The community leader narrated that the bandits invaded the community two times within a week.
