Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfielder Kai Havertz will miss Saturday night’s Premier League showdown against Leeds United after suffering an injury setback.

Havertz, who picked up the knock during the Gunners’ 1-0 victory over Manchester United last weekend, is still undergoing medical assessment.

“He is certainly not fit for this match. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury,” Arteta told reporters on Friday. “We don’t really know yet the extent of it. I think we need a bit more time and more tests. After that we will have more clarity about the next steps.”

The Spaniard also revealed that new signing Christian Norgaard will not feature, while defender Ben White faces a late fitness test.

“Christian won’t be in the squad,” Arteta added. “With Ben, let’s see how he reacts and what we decide. But Christian will be out for another week or so.”

The Gunners will now head into the clash with Leeds United without two key midfield options as they continue their push at the top end of the table.
