Abia Warriors head coach, Imama Amapakabo, has assured fans that his side is fully prepared for the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season as they gear up to face Kano Pillars on Sunday.
The Umuahia-based club, who achieved their best-ever finish last season by clinching third place, will test their strength against the four-time champions in their opening fixture.
Umu Chineke boast an unbeaten run in their last four meetings with Kano Pillars, a record Amapakabo believes will serve as a confidence booster.
“It will be funny if at this time, a few days to the commencement of the league, we say we’re not prepared,” Amapakabo told the club’s media. “We’ve been able to do our bits in our best possible way. I think we will be building on whatever it is that we’ve been able to achieve last season.”
With momentum from last season and a coach brimming with confidence, Abia Warriors will be aiming to announce their intent in style when the new campaign kicks off.
