Six professors make up the Editorial Advisory Board of the Nigerian National Human Rights Commission Journal (NNHRCJ), which is headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Mary Peter-Odili.

On Thursday in Abuja, Chief Tony Ojukwu, the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, delivered the mega edition of the journal for the years 2028 to 2022.

The journal is a collection of academic full-length papers on current human rights concerns, according to Ojukwu, who also stated that it “serves as a significant resource for human rights study and scholarly work.” The Commission is adamant about raising the journal’s caliber.

He claimed that the NHRC has registered with the African Journal Online (AJOL), the largest and most prestigious platform of peer-reviewed scholarly journals published in Africa, and that this will increase awareness of indigenous scholarship throughout the world by providing access to African-published research. He also claimed that contributors to the journal (NNHRCJ) will be pleased to learn that their articles will be given online exposure.

Justice Mary Peter-Odili stated in her inaugural address that the NHRC has over the years demonstrated to be an exceptional institution in the promotion and protection of human rights in the nation.

“I have always followed their work with great interest since I am a strong proponent of the need for a society that values and promotes respect for human rights. My position on problems of respect for human rights is evident from my time spent on the bench.

Human rights are fundamental to growth and have an impact on every area of our daily life. As a result, it’s critical to keep up with developments in the field of human rights, particularly in a world where nations are ranked according to how closely they adhere to international norms and standards in this area, according to the speaker.

The nine-member Editorial Board also includes Prof. Deji Adekunle, a former director general of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Prof. Obiora Okafor, a professor of law, Prof. Abubakar Muazu, a professor of mass communication and a former member of the Commission’s governing council, and Prof. Jemila Nasir, a professor of law at the University of Jos.
Others include Mrs. Ifeoma Nwakama, Professors Emily Alemika, Uchenna Emelonye, and Chief Tony Ojukwu, who serves as the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief.
