The Bauchi State Police Command has detained a 25-year-old man named Anas Auwal for allegedly kidnapped and brutally murdering a five-year-old boy living at the same location as him named Abba Yahuza.

Both Anas Auwal and Abba Yahuza come from Bauchi State’s Tsangaya village through the Ningi local government district.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on October 11, 2022, at or around 1400 hours, the suspect used candy to entice the victim into his room. The victim’s father was then threatened with bringing the sum of N5,000,000.00 as ransom, but the father informed the suspect that he couldn’t raise the required amount, according to a statement from the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili.

According to the PPRO, the suspect ultimately made the decision to kill the victim in his room after realizing that the victim knew him and that his name would be revealed if he freed him.

The victim was then wrapped in a bag and buried in a little grave after waiting until nightfall.

Just as CP Umar Mamman Sanda, the commissioner of police, ordered that the suspect be charged to court for prosecution, the suspect admitted to the crime.

The Police Spokesman also reported that two suspects were detained for allegedly kidnapping Samaila Gidado, a resident of Gayar Mukal, Duguri District, of Alkaleri LGA, in Bauchi state, and demanding N3.1 million in ransom.

He claimed that some of the suspects who were shot during a shootout with the police in their hiding place managed to flee the scene while others sustained gunshot wounds.

According to Ahmed Wakil, “On October 25, 2022, at around 2.30am, Abubakar Yakubu (20), aka Dogo, and Abdullahi Adamu (40), both men from Quanpan, LGA, Plateau State, criminally planned with others who are still at large while arming themselves with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons and stormed the home of Samaila Gidado, a male from Gayar Mukal Duguri district Alkaleri L

He was abducted and taken to an undisclosed location, where they demanded and obtained N3,190,000 as ransom before releasing him.

“The detective team was tasked with finding and apprehending the suspects during the inquiry. They were spotted in a thicket, according to information that was learned throughout the investigation from a trustworthy source.

“A tactical team was promptly assembled, roped off the area, and engaged them in a pistol duel,” he said in his conclusion. All efforts are being made to apprehend the other gang members. Due to our superior firepower, two of the suspects were injured and successfully arrested, while others managed to flee while still suffering gun injuries.
