Nigerian chef and former Guinness World Record (GWR) holder, Hilda Baci, has unveiled plans to cook 250 bags of rice in a giant 22,619-litre pot as she pursues a new world record for the biggest jollof pot.
Baci, who shot to global fame in 2023 after cooking non-stop for 93 hours and 11 minutes to set the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, made the announcement in a viral video shared on her Instagram page on Monday.
Breaking down the scale of the project, she revealed that the pot measures six meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and 1.3 meters deep. “I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice. The pot is not going to sink,” she declared.
The cooking extravaganza is slated for September 12, 2025, and is expected to feed at least 10,000 people.
With this challenge, Baci is once again putting Nigerian cuisine—especially the much-debated jollof rice—on the global stage.
