A total of 31,465 police officers have been promoted by Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali-Baba, including 24,991 individuals from the grade of Sergeants to Inspectors, 194 from Corporals to Sergeants, and 6,280 from Constables to Corporals.

According to the Force Headquarters, this is a component of the IG’s manpower development strategy, which aims to promote deserving police officers based on their skill, training, and length of service.

Alkali-Baba also expressed his gratitude for the awarding of national honors to two assistant inspectors general of police.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s public relations officer, announced the development on Thursday in a statement our correspondent was able to receive.

“The IG has however charged the affected officers to add more zeal to promoting the lofty principles and values of modern policing and discharge their duties as expected of them in line with the provisions of the existing laws,” Adéjb stated.

“In a similar vein, the IG congratulates two AIGs for receiving national honors. AIG Olofu Adejoh and AIG Aishatu Abubakar are two very senior police officers who have received individual awards from the National Productivity Centre, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, with the approval of the previous President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. AIG Aishatu Abubakar was given the award of Officer of the Order of the Niger.

The IG orders the senior officers to use their cumulative experience and well-earned national recognition in their national police responsibilities.
