Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, PhD, NPM, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), conferred new levels on a total of 38 Senior Police Officers on Thursday.

According to a statement by Police spokesman CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and signed by Egbetokun, the officers at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja, were decorated.

The newly promoted Senior Police Officers’ families, friends, and coworkers applauded when the décor was completed.

According to Adejobi on Twitter, “This is a follow-up to the recent promotion approved by the Police Service Commission on the basis of merit, the necessary experience, years of dedicated service, and academic records.”

Bala Ciroma and Frank Emeka Mba, mni, two of the 38 Senior Police Officers that received decorations are also Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs).

The fourteen (14) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, including AIGs Shettima Zannah, Williams Adebowale, Abdul Umar, and Alhassan Aminu (Rtd. ), were also decorated.

There were 22 police commissioners among the other decorated AIGs, including Adepoju Ayinde Ilori, Bankole Lanre Sikiru, Susan Ukpanukiema Horsefall, Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju, Odama Paul Ojeka, and Shehu Sani Gwarzo.

His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dr. Akon Etim, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, and other Honorable Members of the National Assembly were present.

The Force Management Team, serving and former Senior Police Officers, families of promotees, and other dignitaries also attended. The immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd. ), Defense Attaches to the People’s Republic of China Embassy, and other dignitaries also attended.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, Egbetokun gave them a directive to carry out the responsibilities of their new positions in accordance with the requirements of the law and the expectations of the public.

 

In addition, he gave them the assignment to exhibit great critical thinking skills, sound professional judgment in all of their choices, and high levels of strategic management and operational proficiency with the understanding that all actions and inactions would be held accountable.

On Wednesday, Egbetokun formally took over as the new IGP, promising to pay off the constables’ debts.

Egbetokun, who was decorated by the vice president, Kashim Shettima, and appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) on June 19, succeeded Baba, who had accrued 35 years of service, on Tuesday.
