Shehu Nadada, the commissioner of the Katsina State Police, gave checks totaling N54,532,909.32 to the surviving relatives of the state’s fallen police men on Friday.
Under the Inspector-General of Police Group Life Assurance Scheme, the gesture was made.
Speaking on behalf of the IGP, the commissioner advised the recipients present at the presentation at the Katsina Police command headquarters to put the funds to their appropriate uses.
He also praised the IGP for his kindness.
Nadada gave the assurance that the police would continue to provide for the wellbeing of its employees and to assist the families of those who pass away while performing their official duties.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Almighty Allah and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc+, NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, for his generosity and compassion toward the families and next of kin of deceased police officers who gave their lives in defense of the peace and advancement of our beloved country.
“The Nigeria Police Force’s officers and men are very important to the Inspector-General of Police, and he cares deeply about their welfare. This monumental step led to me presenting checks totaling N54,532,909:32K (N54,532,900:32Naira) to the families and next-of-kin of deceased police officers who passed away while serving their fatherland on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police. This payment was made as part of the “Group Life Assurance Scheme.”
“I kindly request that the beneficiaries use the funds wisely to benefit the families of the dead policemen. I ask the Almighty God to grant the departed police officers’ souls eternal rest in paradise.
“I would like to use this chance to reassure the public, especially those living in frontline areas, that the Nigeria Police Force and other security organizations are vigilant and unyielding in their pursuit of terrorists in the state.
“I want to ask for your support and cooperation in the current campaign because without it, the security agencies won’t be able to get the intended outcomes.
“I urge community members to come forward and provide the security agencies with relevant information on any individual or group of people who may be suspected of being terrorists or their informants.
