The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State’s Emeka Ihedioha filed a lawsuit, which the Supreme Court dismissed on Tuesday.
Ihedioha had petitioned the supreme court to be recognized as the legitimate governor of Imo State and to receive a certificate of return.
Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, was accused by Ihedioha of being unfit to run in the first place.
2019 saw Ihedioha and Uzodinma run against one another in the governorship race.
Ihedioha was the PDP candidate, and Uzodinma ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pronounced the PDP candidate the winner; nevertheless, Uzodinma was recognized by the Supreme Court as the legitimate victor of the election.
Ihedioha’s motion was rejected by Justice Tijjani Abubakar on Tuesday due to its lack of merit. She also labeled it as pointless and vexatious and fined Mike Ozekhome N40 million for bringing the case before the court.
