Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, has voiced optimism about winning Anambra State in the 2023 election.
This was the candidate’s stance when the Presidential Campaign Management Committee of the Atiku-Okwa ticket in Anambra State, led by its Director General, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, coordinated over 200 support organizations in the state.
Given the degree of support garnered thus far from Ndi Anambra, Okonkwo expressed confidence that Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyichukwu Okowa would garner the majority of votes in Anambra State.

Following the state management committee meeting, Okonkwo made this statement in Awka, Anambra State. He lauded Rt. Hon. Onyebuchi Offor, the minority leader in the 7th Assembly of Anambra State and the deputy director for support and volunteer groups, for his work ethic, passion, and dedication.
According to the pattern that has persisted since 1999, there is no question that Anambra state will provide a majority of votes for the PDP, he added. The people have continued to support a national party with the reach and potential to win the president even when there is another party operating at the state level in our state, which has remained a PDP state.
“So far, we have heard information from the Deputy Director for Volunteer and Support Groups, Rt. Hon. Onyebuchi Offor, that over 200 support and volunteer groups have been harmonized, spanning the 5,720 voting places in the state and having a total membership of over 500 000 electorates.”
During the meeting, Onyebuchi Offor verified that more volunteer organizations were still supporting Atiku Abubakar for governor of the state. These groups have started to turn out new voters and have even gone so far as to self-fund their outreach efforts.
Offor claimed that there are more volunteer groups supporting the PDP presidential candidate in addition to the 200 self-funding groups that have already been approved.

“We are looking forward to coordinating more support organizations and increasing the number to above one million voters who would march out in droves on the day of the election and cast their votes for the PDP and defend such votes,” the statement continued.
Okonkwo characterized the development as time and evidence that the management committee is made up of competent individuals who are carrying out their purpose and filling their specific niche. He gave his support and compliments to Rt. Hon. Onyebuchi Offor, whom he referred to as a trailblazer and skilled grassroots political organizer.
Okonkwo went on to say that Anambra is the PDP’s home state and that the party runs a wide range of qualified candidates for all legislative positions in the state. He asked the populace to continue supporting the PDP.
It’s clear that our people have started to believe our message after hearing that over 500,000 electorates have already sided with the PDP and that more are still doing so, noting that an Atiku Abubakar presidency is inevitable given the situation on the ground and that Anambra votes will be mobilized for the PDP.
