‘I’m Nigeria’s Most Bullied Widow’ — Mohbad’s Wife Speaks Out Amid DNA Controversy

Omowunmi Aloba, widow of late Nigerian music sensation Mohbad, has lamented that she is the “most bullied widow” in the country.

She accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of orchestrating a smear campaign against her by insisting on a DNA test for her son, Liam.

Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Omowunmi maintained she had “nothing to hide” but faulted the manner in which her father-in-law was making the demand. She recalled that before her husband’s passing, Joseph Aloba had been a strong influence in their lives, pressuring them through fasting and prayers to have a child before they were ready.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and within 24 hours, his father buried him in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Amid controversies surrounding his death, authorities exhumed the body on September 21 for an autopsy, the results of which remain undisclosed.

Joseph Aloba has since insisted that Mohbad’s remains will not be reburied until the autopsy report is released and a DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.
