Rt Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has been impeached and sent on indefinite leave.

A new Speaker, Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba, was elected as a replacement during Monday’s plenary session of the Assembly, which was attended by 17 members.

The turmoil that has been roiling the Ekiti State House of Assembly since last week appears to have finally come to an end with this most recent action.

recalled that the issue started right away After Aribisogan was chosen as Speaker last week, there have been clandestine efforts to have him removed.

Along with the former Speaker, six additional members were also suspended: Tajudeen Akingbolu, Goke Olajide, Yemisi Ayokunle, Adeyemi Raphael Ajibade, Kemi Balogun, and Tope Ogunleye.

Hon. Johnson Oyekola Bode-Adeoye has taken over as the new head of business, while Hon. Lateef Akande has been named the new chairman of appropriations.
