There is no question that the corps members working for you have done and continue to do their utmost to support the expansion and success of your company and the country as a whole. You might find it interesting to note that 62.5 percent of the teaching staff in Anambra State’s schools are corps members.
This is my first Corps Employers workshop since I started working here in Anambra a few months ago, so I wanted to bring everyone together to discuss the importance of providing proper care to corps members in order to encourage initiative, accountability, and dedication as well as to get feedback on how best to use the serving corps members in the state.
The Coordinator thanked the state government for continuing to support the program in the state and urged employers to pay corps members a fair allowance of ten thousand naira (N10,000) or more, provide housing for them, show them love, keep them safe, and hire among them hard-working, disciplined, and value-adding corps members who excel in their duties at the end of the service year to foster commitment, faith, and loyalty.
Dr. Mrs. Ofor, an accountant from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Igbariam, Anambra State, served as the workshop’s resource person. She urged the employers to prioritize providing health insurance for the corps members in their various establishments and to always give them a certificate of recognition for future references.
