Tunji Wusu –
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president in the 2023 election, has denied media claims that he plans to seek for government in the 2027 elections.
Additionally, the presidential contender denied making any remarks about Federal Government appointments.
This was announced by Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra, on his official Twitter account in Lagos on Saturday.
The presidential candidate called both claims false and expressed concern that Nigerian politics had gotten so bad that it had become a business to manipulate the media.
Peter Obi stated, “I have observed with dismay, a developing pattern, where fabricated media reports and news items are based on interviews and press statements I never granted.
“Two recent occurrences involving my declaring in a fictitious Arise TV interview that I look forward to standing for office in 2027.
The other, regarding my response to potential appointees to the current Federal Government, never happened.
The presidential contender promised that he would not let false information divert his attention from creating a new Nigeria, which he claimed was achievable.
The politician declared that his emphasis and the “Obidient” Movement he directs would not stray from their initial goal of establishing a new Nigeria.
For myself, he stated, he would continue to discuss pressing national issues through reputable news and media outlets, but he would most definitely not be bothered by cheap diversion.
He added that the attention of his supporters has never been on political positions and appointments.
By assisting in the uplift and empowerment of the weak in our society, Peter Obi remarked, “Our emphasis has never been on political positions or personal aggrandisement but on putting the nation on the right footing and deepening our democracy.”
He continued by saying that this was the reason all of his campaign messaging focused on particular issues.
