This week saw the release of the eagerly awaited Creed III, which not only sees the continuation of Adonis Creed’s legacy as he establishes himself but also marks Michael B. Jordan, the actor, making his directorial debut. As the film prepares to be released, Warner Bros. has published a final trailer to heighten anticipation for the Heavyweight Championship fight between Jonathan Majors’ muscled-up Damian Anderson and actor Michael B. Jordan’s Creed.
According to the official summary, “Adonis Creed has been thriving in both his career and family life after ruling the boxing world. When Damian (Jonathan Majors), a boyhood buddy and previous boxing prodigy, reappears after serving a lengthy jail sentence, he is eager to demonstrate that he deserves his chance in the ring. The confrontation between the two ex-friends is more than just a brawl. Adonis must face Damian, a fighter with nothing to lose, in order to settle the score, risking his future in the process.
Tessa Thompson, who reprises her role as Creed’s wife, Bianca, Wood Harris, who reprises his role as Little Duke, and Jordan all appear in the third chapter. The daughter of Adonis and Bianca, Mila Kent, makes her debut in the series, and Phylicia Rashad makes her third appearance as Creed’s mother and the widow of Apollo. Florian Munteanu reprises his role as Viktor Drago, a previous foe.
The first Creed movie’s co-writer and director Ryan Coogler and Keenan Coogler, brother of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Ryan Coogler, contributed to the screenplay. Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo, Jonathan Glickman, and Sylvester Stallone are among the producers of the movie.
Even though Stallone is listed as producing, his absence from this episode is remarkable because Creed II ended with Rocky telling Adonis, “It’s your time now.” The next scene depicts Rocky getting back in touch with his son and his family. To Stallone’s dismay, who believes the franchise is being continuously milked for all the wrong reasons, the Winklers are not giving him the rights to his own creation, as he has made apparent through his social media accounts.
With a special sneak preview shown in some theaters on March 1, Creed III premieres on March 3. Check the postings in your area.
