Atiku’s bravery as a politician is undeniable when you consider the out-in-the-open conflicts he had with his boss during his tenure as Vice President between 1999 and 2003. Few, however, would have anticipated him to act with the same audacity and lie in the presence of clergymen in the revered setting of a church.
Atiku stated he had never considered running on a same-faith ticket in his entire political career while attending the 2023 extraordinary General Church Council (GCC) of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Jos this past week. Atiku was represented by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“My business and political partners come from diverse backgrounds and have no inclinations toward any particular religion or ethnic group. Throughout my political career, I have never thought about running on the same faith ticket. According to some, the Muslim/Muslim ticket is a recipe for disaster.

It appears that the former vice president has erased from his political resume his vain attempt at the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) national convention in Jos, Plateau State in 1993 to be the party’s vice presidential nominee, the late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola, a Muslim like Atiku.
